Man and a Van Kensington Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man and a Van Kensington in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It outlines our approach to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full respect of human rights.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man and a Van Kensington is a transport and removals business operating primarily in Kensington and the wider London area. Our services include household and commercial moves, storage transfers, and related logistical support. Our supply chain consists of vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, facilities service providers, and select subcontracted transport partners.
We recognise that certain sectors, including logistics and temporary labour, can carry an elevated risk of labour exploitation. Accordingly, we take proactive steps to assess and mitigate these risks within our supplier base and subcontracted services.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Man and a Van Kensington maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes forced labour, bonded labour, involuntary prison labour, child labour that is not in line with international standards, and any form of exploitation or abuse of vulnerable workers.
We expect the same high standards from all individuals and organisations connected to our business. This includes employees, agency staff, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers at every level of our supply chain. We will not knowingly engage with any party that is involved in, or fails to take adequate steps to prevent, modern slavery or human trafficking.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
To uphold our zero-tolerance stance, we apply due diligence procedures when appointing and reviewing suppliers and subcontractors. Our approach includes assessing suppliers for their labour practices, working conditions, and compliance with relevant legislation.
Where we identify a higher risk of labour exploitation, we may conduct audits or request evidence of compliance with modern slavery laws and ethical standards. This may involve reviewing supplier policies, staff training materials, recruitment practices, and worker welfare provisions. We reserve the right to terminate relationships with suppliers or partners that fail to meet our standards or that refuse to address identified issues within a reasonable timeframe.
Policies, Training, and Awareness
Our internal policies reflect our commitment to preventing modern slavery, promoting fair treatment, and protecting workers from exploitation. These policies are communicated to employees and relevant contractors as part of their induction and ongoing training.
Managers and staff who engage with suppliers and subcontractors are made aware of the signs of modern slavery and how to escalate concerns. We promote a culture in which ethical behaviour and respect for human rights are integral to all business decisions.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Man and a Van Kensington encourages anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking in connection with our business to report these concerns as soon as possible. Concerns may relate to our own operations, our subcontractors, or our suppliers.
Employees are encouraged to speak to their line manager or a senior member of management. We also support the use of established whistleblowing channels within the business, which allow individuals to raise concerns in confidence and without fear of retaliation. All reports will be investigated promptly and, where appropriate, escalated to relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We understand that the risks of modern slavery evolve over time and that our response must be continually improved. Man and a Van Kensington is committed to periodically reviewing and enhancing our due diligence, training, and supplier oversight processes to strengthen protections against modern slavery.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management. The review will consider changes in our operations, changes in applicable legislation or guidance, outcomes of any audits or investigations, and feedback from stakeholders. Updates to this statement or to our internal procedures will be communicated across the business and, where relevant, to our suppliers and partners.
This statement represents our ongoing commitment to conducting business responsibly and to playing our part in eliminating modern slavery and human trafficking from our industry and supply chains.
